The delegation headed by the President of France Francois Hollande who is on an official visit to Armenia and President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex on May 12, 2014. The presidents of Armenia and France laid wreaths at the Genocide Memorial.
Francois Hollande and the accompanying delegation laid flowers at the eternal fire and observed a minute of silence in the memory of the innocent victims. At the end of the visit President of the French Republic planted a fir at the Memorial Alley of Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.
Director of AGMI Hayk Demoyan handed to the leader of France a Gold Medal, which is awarded to distinguished guests of the museum, along with a symbolic copy of the law by which France officially recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2001. The copy was printed on paper made from recycled flower petals laid to the eternal flame in Tsitsernakaberd on April 24.
