Ragip Zarakolu participated in the 7th Biennial Meeting of the IAGS

Ragip Zarakolu, publisher-owner of Belge Publishing House, writer for Ozgur Gundem (Free Agenda), prosecuter by Turkey for writing about the Armenian Genocide and Kurds (Istanbul, Turkey), also participated in the 7th Biennial Meeting of the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) hosted by the University of Sarajevo's Institute for Research into Crimes against Humanity and International Law.

IAGS Award to Ragip Zarakolu for Outstanding Contributions to the Battle against Deniers of the Armenian Genocide and All Denials of Genocides.

Ragip Zarakolu was born in 1948 on Buyukada ("Great Island") close to Istanbul. At that time his father, Remzi Zarakolu, was the district governor on that island. In 2005 Ragip Zarakolu was given the Freedom of Expression Award by the Norwegian Authors' Union.

The two awards presented by the Committee are:

The Raoul Wallenberg A Hero For Our Time Award
The Raoul Wallenberg Civic Courage Award
