AGMI HEAD OF DEPARTMENT RE-ELECTED AS IAGS BOARD MEMBER
On 14-17, an international conference titled ‘“The Missing Picture”: Rethinking Genocide Studies & Prevention’ took place at the American University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. AGMI Head of Comparative Genocide Studies Department, PhD in History Suren Manukyan participated at the conference and reported on “The History and Contemporary Trends of the Armenian Genocide Study”.
The conference was co-hosted by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the American University of Phnom Penh and the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights at Rutgers University.
The conference was participated by more than a hundred scholars from around the world, who mainly focused on the present and future development of genocide studies.
During the 14th IAGS Conference the election of the board members also took place, as a result of which Suren Manukyan was re-elected as a board member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars for the period 2019-2021, and Henry Theriault who is a professor in Armenian Genocide studies as the president of the Association.
The board consists of 6 members and the president, along with two vice presidents and a paymaster who co-ordinates the work of this largest worldwide network of genocide experts.
